1. If you had $1,000 to donate to a charity, which would you choose?

K9 Bone Cancer Research. My 9 year old German Shepherd passed away Oct 9, 2010 form K9 Bone Cancer. I am in the process of organizing a 5k run/walk dog friendly event to raise money and awareness for this issue.

2. Snow days: Do you welcome them happily or are they a pain in your butt?

HAPPILY!! Its a day off work or school. Its a day to SLEEP in and be lazy if you want to. Nothing is required of you so enjoy the day mother nature is giving you off!

3. What talent did you wish you had and why?

I wish I could draw…my mother (check out her blog and art work here)is an excellent artist and can draw ANYTHING…I wish I had that talent. 

4. Are you a news, politics or celebrity gossip junkie?

Celebrity to a point. I love to keep up with the crap but at the same time its only because I cant believe how ridiculous it is!!

5. What is your favorite "cocktail"? (Are you a beer person, a kiddie cocktail junkie, or perhaps your more the "Cosmo" kind?! Anything flies...doesn't haftabe alcoholic!)

Lately my love is MARTINIS!! EXTRA Dirty = More Olive Juice!! LOVE LOVE LOVE them although I cant seem to MAKE THEM…HA!

TWO: School books. I recently started back to school and FORGOT to get my books…weird I know but its been 7 years since I was in school and at that time they sent me ALL My books. There was none of this, "I need USED CHEAP text books ASAP!!" So after Tuition was paid … I now get to spend nearly $400 on books….seriously?!?!

THREE: Last May before we moved to NorCal my husband bought me a motorcycle. Well, he claims its mine, but he rides it since I have yet to get my license…so wish #3 is to get my license so I can ride it!!

Today is normally Inspiration Monday…and maybe later this afternoon it will be. But currently I am so tight on time today I shouldn't even be writing this!

5 Q Friday!!

1. Where did you meet your spouse and did you instantly know it was love?


I met my spouse in IRAQ…yes we met in a war zone. I was a contractor he was military. We arrived within 2 weeks of each other, and left within 2 days. WE spent our 2 week R&R in Greece over Valentines day! 

2. What is your favorite room in your house?


Hmmm….my bedroom. At least for the next week until we move. We have been very sparing on using the propane in our rental home since we are moving next week, so the heat is OFF (thank God we are in NorCal and in the middle of a hot streak). So I have been huddled up on the bed with the dog for a while. LOL

3. Can you wiggle your ears?


Nope. Not even close!

4. What is your evening ritual?


HA HA…There is a card game that my family has played for years. And when my parents and grandmother came to visit a few weeks ago, we played and played. NOW my husband and I play at least once a day. Its sweet. Reminds me of my grandparents. They used to do the same thing until my grandfather passed. 


After dinner, we workout (run or ride our bikes) then play cards, then read. We recently took our ONLY TV in the house to my photo studio and then canceled out cable. So we have NO TV in our place. which is nice! If we get the yearning to watch something we pull out the laptop and rent a movie on iTunes…it brings us back to our Iraq days.

5. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?


A LOT…I like at least 8 but it all depends.

Exciting Day!

Today I have a Tattoo Photo shoot! For those of you who don't know much about me, I am a professional Photographer by day and a newbee-blogger/student by night. I'm not going to school to be a photographer, I am going back to school to learn more about THIS stuff….HTML, Coding, Social Media, Social Networking…the "fun" stuff.

So back to the photography aspect, I have been a photographer since 1995. I started out VERY amateur on the school newspaper and all the photo classes the high school would send me too! I then joined the Air Force as a photographer and literally traveled the world! I ended up in Washington DC where I worked for Mr. P (you know who…) for 4 years.

After 8 years in the military I decided to get out and go to school. While I was going to school I worked as a graphic artist. After I got my degree in Visual Communications and a Major in Education, I took a 1 year contract to Iraq. This is where I met my husband! Yes ladies, we met in a war zone.

We have recently moved to Northern California and I opened my first Photography Studio about a month ago! I have been a busy bee lately with family shoots, weddings, engagements and even a local Band photo shoot! Its been a Whirl Wind of Excitement!

So….long story short, I have a Tattoo Photo Shoot today. A girl in the area has a half sleeve that she wants documented! So I will be in the studio and outside shooting today!

I literally love my job!

Change...

I decided that Blissful Blatterations needed a facelift. I did some research and after getting some ideas I decided I would go with something more subtle. At least for now until I get my Color Inspiration Board together thanks to Bright Wishes! for the idea of a color inspiration board. Plus I love Change!! I love to change my blog all the time! So don't be worried if you check in one day and its weird colors and the next day its semi-normal again. 


AND with this being MLK Day my recent changes is very appropriate!

A Heavy Heart

My heart is heavy today. A close friend of mine is saying good-bye to her husband for 6 months while he deploys with the military. They have 2 small children and she is fairly new to the area. I have been in her shoes. A month after marrying my husband he left for Afghanistan for 6 months. Being a member of the "Deployed Spouses Club" (not a real club) is not exactly something that a person strives for. 


Over at Kojo Designs they are making Ribbon Chains to count down to Spring. Well we are going to make a count down chain for when her hubby comes home. It will helps the kids "see" how long it will be until daddy is back!!

Today is wordless Wednesday! Its been a week but who's complaining!

Todays thought is cold… we are 'conserving' our propane since we are moving in 2 weeks and don't want to fill it up again. so we are bundled up in our house! Thank God for a space heater!!

training run

well our 9 mile training run turned in to a 12.5 mile shuffle! 2:50minutes later we finished….so tired but so worth it!!

Way Too Cook 50K

Today is a training run… 9 miles on trail! Lets see how this works! I'm nervous since it cold out and I hate being cold. But it is a good test! Last Tuesday I went out for a run intending to go 3-5 and I ended up at 8.20! Nice way to stretch my legs!

KoJo Design Challenge

LOVE THIS! Kojo Designs has a week long challenge! and today is MAKE SOMETHING!! I am making my Studio Signs. Yep Sarah D. Butcher - Photography has a studio! (thats me!) and I am making BRIGHT RED Signs that say "PHOTOGRAPHY". I'm located next to Summer Thymes in Grass Valley, CA and their parking lot is RIGHT Next to my studio. So I made a SUPER LARGE wooden photo sign that is right red with black letters. That way people inthe parking lot of even in the coffee shop can see it!

What is your Wordless Wednesday thoughts?

Inspiration POINT - 1/3/11

Today is the FIRST Monday of 2011 … so instead of making is crappy monday like they always seem to be, lets do something out of the ordinary… lets get INSPIRED!!

I have LOTS planned for this week, but something I have planned for March 12, 2011 is the Way Too Cool 50K…  

Thats right … 50K foot race on a TRAIL non the less… so its TRAINING TIME! I have a decent amount of miles under my belt. AND I tend to "suffer well". The Month I turned 30, I ran 3 full marathons. Oct 5 (Twin Cities), Oct 11 (Baltimore), and Oct 26 (Marine Corp Marathon, Washington DC) … since then I have accomplished 2 Half-Ironman Triathlons, and one full Ironman. So a 50K should be a piece of cake right……well lets hope so!
